Friend of Friends Friday

I have decided to move my weekly "Friend of Friends Friday" series from my other blog Ancestors Live Here to this one. The posts of late have been newspaper articles so I thought it would fit better over here.

This first article is from the Weekly Wisconsin, September 6, 1848, page 5.

The next article is from Burlington Weekly Hawkeye, published in Burlington, Iowa, April 11, 1863, page 6.

Clicking on the image will make it larger and easier to read.

The slaves mentioned are:
  1. Joseph Brooking
  2. George Runley, alias George Merritt
  3. Jewell
  4. Jo Miner

McLellan Golden Wedding Anniversary, 1907

Hey Guys ~ thanks for stopping by!  I started this new blog because I wanted to share some of the interesting and informative stuff that I have accumulated  during my years of research. This includes obituaries, ads, wedding announcements, etc., anything that doesn't pertain to my family.

I want to start with some good news so today let's read about the golden wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McLellan.

Those present were Mrs. Martha Reed, Edward McLellan, Mrs. Garrent Fisher, Mrs. John Emery, Mrs. Alan Warner, Mrs. D. R. McLellan, Mrs. John McLellan, Mr. and Mrs. George Dodge, and Mr. and Mrs. Aldon Chase.
